A Prophecy Of Names

Messiah- Annointed One
Jesus will come to earth to redeem Gods People and establish the kingdom

Old Testament Prophecy: Psalm 2: 2
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.

New Testament: Acts 4:26 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. '

Holy One-To be perfect or flawless
Jesus Christ is holy in both his divine and human nature. His death made us holy before God

Old Testament Prophecy: Psalm 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

New Testament: Acts 3:14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.

Prince of Peace- The restorer of harmony
God and man were separated by sin. Jesus came to restore harmony to their relationship.

Old Testament Prophecy: Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

New Testament: Acts 10:36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

Redeemer- Payer of the Price of Sin
Jesus paid the penalty of our sin and set us free from its bondage

Old Testament Prophecy: Isaiah 59:20 "The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins," declares the LORD.

New Testament: Romans 11: 26And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

True Vine- Supplier of Life
Jesus is the vine that believer, the branches, feed off of for Life. The vine gives its living water of salvation and nourishment of the word to its branches so they may produce fruit.

Old Testament: Zechariah 3:88 " 'Listen, O high priest Joshua and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.

New Testament: John 15:1 1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener...4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

Jesus has been called many names. Each name is based on a characteristic of him and has its own individual meaning. "Names are very powerful because they reflect prophetic truths for lifes purpose". (Life Purpose Barry Buzza)

They all were prophesized about in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New. One cannot deny the clear truth evident throughout all of them, "A Messiah was coming to save his people."

This Messiah and Saviour was Jesus.
